Who Is
Benjanin Yu?

Benjamin Yu, DPT, is a residency-trained physical therapist specializing in orthopedics. Frustrated with the profit-driven insurance model, he founded LPI Physical Therapy to provide patient-first care. Passionate about empowering people, Ben views physical function as deeply connected to emotional and spiritual well-being, dedicating his work to optimizing movement and enriching the human experience. Outside the clinic, he’s a recreational CrossFit athlete and triathlete, as well as co-founder and CFO of The Movement Network, a nonprofit offering pro-bono therapy and education to underserved communities. He also enjoys live music, traveling, and playing golf.

Who is Benjamin Yu, and why does everyone want to see Him?

After working in the corporate world for a couple of years while also helping care for my parents after they experienced balance issues and falls, I realized I wanted to find something more meaningful in life. That led me to change careers and pursue physical therapy.

Once I began, I quickly fell in love with it. I loved the problem-solving aspect – being able to work with real people, helping them solve complex problems so they could improve their quality of life. Those are the parts of my job that I really enjoy.

But as I continued on this path, I realized that working within the current healthcare system didn’t allow us to truly solve those complex problems or fully help people in the way we wanted. The insurance-driven model simply wasn’t set up to prioritize the patient experience or give them the time and attention they deserve.

That realization is what inspired me to start Longevity and Performance Institute (LPI) in 2020. We opened our first clinic in Arcadia, serving the San Gabriel Valley. Since then, we’ve grown and expanded into Orange County, with our second clinic now proudly located in the city of Orange.

Through LPI, my mission has been clear: to create a space where people can finally get the quality of care they deserve, free from the limitations of the traditional system. I’ve always believed that improving physical function directly impacts overall well-being – emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually. That’s what drives me every day and why I’m proud to be recognized as the #1 knee pain expert in Orange.

Benjamin Yu's Elite-level experience in knee pain

Over many years working with active adults – those sidelined by chronic injuries, post-surgery, or recurring pain – I’ve developed extensive experience treating knee pain. I treat not only the local symptoms (swelling, stiffness, loss of mobility) but dig into root causes: muscular imbalances, movement dysfunctions, joint loading, neuromuscular control. At LPI, we view the body as a system of interconnected parts – not isolating the knee alone but considering how hip strength, ankle mobility, posture, breathing, and movement patterns contribute.

I’ve helped patients recover from ACL injuries, meniscus issues, post-operative rehab, and degenerative conditions affecting the knee. Through personalized rehab programs, manual therapy, corrective exercise, strength and conditioning, and advanced movement awareness, I focus on restoring function, not just alleviating pain. LPI actively aims to go beyond temporary relief – our goal is long-term mobility, stability, and prevention of recurrence.

In short: I bring a holistic, evidence-based, patient-centered approach to knee pain, combining professional training, hands-on experience, and a commitment to treating the root causes.

what makes Benjamin yu Different?

At LPI Physical Therapy, we’ve become known as the pain experts in Orange because of four main points.

The first is education. Our healthcare and education systems separate the body into specialties – treating a knee, hip, or shoulder in isolation. But the body doesn’t work that way. Everything affects everything. Early in my career, I realized that treating body parts individually wasn’t helping people the way we were told it would. So I pursued extensive continuing education, and what I found was clear: the best results come when we treat the human body as a complete, interconnected system.

The second point is time. We believe in 60-minute evaluations and treatment sessions. You can’t perform a thorough assessment in 10 or 15 minutes, yet that’s often what patients get in the traditional model. Our goal isn’t to keep you coming back for months or years – it’s to create adaptations in your body that last, and ultimately, to teach you how to move so you don’t need us anymore.

The third point is efficiency. The national average in the insurance model is around 24 visits. Other cash-based clinics average about 12. Over the last five years, we’ve averaged just over six visits, often seeing patients once every two weeks. Many of these are people with chronic, complex pain who have tried everything else.

Finally, our results speak for themselves. We’ve earned hundreds of five-star reviews, not just “great experience” comments, but detailed stories from people who were told they’d suffer for life and found new hope here. That’s why we’re collectively known as the #1 knee pain experts in Orange.
